How to Prepare for Your Head Spa Treatment
Tips to Make the Most of Your NuMūn Head Spa Experience in Tampa
A head spa treatment is more than just a scalp massage—it’s a deeply restorative ritual rooted in Japanese wellness philosophy. At NuMūn Head Spa in Tampa, FL, we offer a personalized journey that nourishes the scalp, promotes healthy hair, and provides mental clarity.
To ensure you get the most out of your head spa experience, a little preparation can go a long way. Whether it’s your first time or you’re a returning guest, here’s how to prepare for your session so you leave feeling renewed—inside and out.
1. Don’t Wash Your Hair the Night Before
This is one of the most important things to remember before your head spa session. You might be tempted to arrive with freshly washed hair, but we encourage you not to wash your hair the night before your appointment.
Why? We want to see your scalp in its natural state—with its unique balance of oils, buildup, or dryness. This allows our scalp specialists to accurately assess your scalp’s health and customize your treatment for maximum results.
2. Dress Comfortably and Be Ready to Change
Your comfort is our priority. When you arrive at NuMūn, you’ll change into a spa robe to fully relax and enjoy the experience.
👚 Women will change into a soft facial robe (you’ll remove your shirt).
👕 Men will change into a standard spa robe.
We recommend wearing something that’s easy to change out of, such as a loose top or button-down shirt. Don’t worry—your privacy is always respected, and we create a peaceful, secure space for every client.
3. Remove Jewelry Before Your Session
For your comfort and to avoid water contact, we suggest removing jewelry such as:
Necklaces
Earrings
Any headbands or clips
You can remove them at home or safely take them off at the spa suite before your treatment begins. We’ll provide a designated space to store your belongings during your session.
4. Shoes Off = Full Relaxation Mode
When you enter the NuMūn Head Spa suite, you’ll be invited to remove your shoes—just like traditional Japanese wellness spaces. This small but symbolic gesture helps ground you and shift your body and mind into a more relaxed state.
It’s a subtle but powerful way to start your healing journey from the ground up.
5. Bring Only the Essentials
Our spa suite is designed to feel intimate, serene, and clutter-free. To maintain that environment, we recommend bringing only what you need:
A small bag or purse
Your phone (on silent, please!)
Any essential personal items
There’s a clothing rack and a small table for safekeeping during your session. The goal is to disconnect from the noise of everyday life and reconnect with yourself.
What to Expect During Your Head Spa Treatment
Once you’re settled and comfortable, the session will begin with a scalp analysis to evaluate your needs. From there, your specialist will perform a fully customized treatment that may include:
Deep cleansing scalp exfoliation
Anma-inspired Japanese massage
Steam and aromatherapy
Nourishing hair masks
Relaxing shoulder, neck, and temple work
Each experience is tailored to your scalp’s condition, your stress levels, and your desired outcomes—whether you’re looking to relieve tension, promote hair growth, or simply unwind.
Why Preparing for Your Head Spa Matters
Proper preparation sets the tone for a deeper, more effective treatment. When you show up relaxed, open, and ready to disconnect, you’ll feel the benefits not only on your scalp—but in your mood, energy, and clarity.
NuMūn isn’t just about beauty—it’s about full-body wellness that starts at the top of your head.
